Radiography (X-rays)

We offer digital radiography as a valuable diagnostic tool to reveal information that may not be discernible from the outside. A radiograph (x-ray) is painless, safe, and completely non-invasive, and it uses very low doses of radiation. Many people think of x-rays as a way to see broken bones, but we also utilize radiographs to aid in diagnosing other conditions such as bladder stones, chronic arthritis, certain spinal cord diseases, intestinal blockages, cancer, kidney, heart, or liver disease, and a variety of other conditions. Additionally, we follow the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recommendations for hip dysplasia radiographs and assist owners with the registration process for the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). Our state of the art digital imaging system has many advantages, including the ability to send images to specialized Radiologists for consultation in a matter of seconds, often resulting in definitive diagnoses the same day. This benefits patients and clients when treatment is not delayed by additional referrals to outside doctors or hospitals.

Ultrasound

Unlike x-rays, ultrasonography does not use radiation. Instead, ultrasonography uses high-frequency sound (ultrasound) waves to create a picture of the inside of your pet’s body. Ultrasounds are a non-invasive and painless way to diagnose and evaluate many common diseases, detect organ abnormalities, assess fetal health, and monitor pregnancy. We often use the mobile ultrasound service provided by Upstate Veterinary Specialists. This is a convenient and economical way for our patients to have access to this advanced medical procedure. Appointments for ultrasounds must be scheduled in advance.

Blood Transfusions

Our transfusion service allows us to provide blood and blood products for veterinary patients’ medical, surgical, or emergency needs. All blood is carefully screened for safety, handled carefully to help ensure delivery of healthy cells, and administered by experienced professionals.
